The history of the formation of the present Bay of Islands Classic and Sports Car Club In late 1992 an attempt was made to start a local car club. This was called the "Kerikeri District Car Club" but due to wide and uncompromising interests it lacked cohesion and gradually faded away.
In 2004 it became apparent to a local that there were several classic and sports car owners with "nowhere to go" and that there was a possibility of starting a club that would cater to anyone who was interested in cars. In order to test the waters, an advertisement was placed in the local paper in February 2004. This time the formula was a success and the club continues to grow. We are a club that prefers not to rally or race our cars around tracks or courses, but to display our vehicles and once a month explore the beautiful Far North with wives, partners and friends, stopping for lunch at pre arranged venues along the way. We also join other clubs in their events and have an invite out to them to join with our events. For example; Breakfast with the Cars with Total Car Club every 1st Sunday of the month at the Paihia Village Green.
We are very grateful to our sponsors who support our activities.
